Resize Signature to 10KB–20KB

Last updated

Quick Answer

Application forms frequently require signature images strictly between 10KB and 20KB. This tool adjusts compression quality within a bounded target range of 10,000 to 20,000 bytes, with optional preset dimensions (such as 140×60 pixels) you can enable. Everything executes client-side in HTML5 Canvas, keeping your official signature scan private.

Resize and compress your scanned signature to strictly between 10 KB and 20 KB. Matches the 10–20 KB signature rule in the SSC CGL 2024 and IBPS PO/MT-XVI notifications.

  3. Optionally tick “Set exact pixel dimensions” to enter required pixel size (such as 140 × 60 px for IBPS).
  4. Confirm output format is set to JPEG.
  5. Click Compress to Exact Target to process the signature within 10 KB to 20 KB.
  6. Review the result card and click Download Compressed Image to save your compliant file.

The Dual-Boundary Challenge: Why Signatures Need 10–20 KB

SSC and IBPS state a minimum as well as a maximum for signatures (10 to 20 KB), so a file that is too small can fail just like one that is too large.

The Between mode aims for a file of at least 10 × 1024 = 10,240 bytes and at most 20 × 1000 = 20,000 bytes, which is inside the range however the portal counts a kilobyte.

Cropping White Margins and Pen Guidelines

Smartphone photos of signatures often capture large desk areas, forcing the compressor to waste bytes on empty white paper.

Key guidelines for clean signatures: - Crop tightly around handwriting, leaving only a 5 mm white border - Sign with a black ballpoint or gel pen on unlined white paper - For IBPS, do not sign in capital letters; the notification says such signatures are not accepted - Photograph in natural daylight to avoid yellow room shadows

Frequently asked questions

Why does the portal reject my signature if it is 9.5 KB?

SSC and IBPS both ask for 10 to 20 KB, so a 9.5 KB file is below the stated minimum. In Between mode the tool targets at least 10,240 bytes; if your image is too small to reach that, it tells you instead of padding the file.

What pixel dimensions should I use for a 10–20 KB signature?

IBPS prefers 140 × 60 pixels. SSC CGL 2024 gives the size as about 6.0 cm wide by 2.0 cm high. UPSC asks for 350–500 pixels with three signatures. Tick “Set exact pixel dimensions” in the tool to fix, for example, 140 × 60 px while keeping the file between 10 KB and 20 KB.

What happens if my signature photo is naturally under 10 KB?

The engine will not artificially pad your file with junk bytes. If an image naturally compresses below 10 KB even at maximum 95% quality, it displays an informative notice explaining that the file is already small.

Will my JPEG be uploaded to a server?

No. The image is compressed inside your browser using JavaScript and HTML5 Canvas, so it never leaves your device. That makes it safe for ID proofs, signatures, certificates and other personal documents.

What if my image is still above 20 KB?

Very large or highly detailed images may need smaller dimensions to fit under 20 KB. The tool automatically downscales dimensions while keeping JPEG quality crisp. You can also switch output format to WebP, which produces smaller files at high visual quality.
